We just bought a small farm, and I’m begging my wife to let me build a couple of these for us and the grandkids.

A few 3" screws into the tree.....can't be a safe way to anchor a zipline.  At least use longer lag screws, if you want real safety.  There is a hell of a lot of force on a zipline.

The weight rating on steel cable is for a weight hanging straight down. The cable is strung near horizontally so the tensile strength necessary to hold up a weight is probably 10 times or more. So a 100 lb kid would pull on the cable with a tension of 1000 lbs. Please keep this in mind when sizing your cable.

How high is this? My son would love a zipline, but we don't know how far up a tree to go. Thanks!

I made one that goes over the freeway. Forgot to include the height of trailers, accidentally slammed into one on the first run.

I made one that is really high up and over my creek, would consider doing more research for people who don't know much.

I build these around Ontario and do maintenance at some of the parks. Pretty accurate for DIY
