  • Elon Musk introduces Tesla's new all electric long-haul shipping truck and surprise, a new roadster the company says could go as fast as 250 miles per hour.

On Thursday night, Elon Musk rolled out Tesla's biggest gizmo yet: a fully electric semitruck. The Semi can go a whopping 500 miles between charges, hauling 80,000 pounds along the way. And it can sorta, kinda drive itself—on highways, anyway. The truck comes with Enhanced Autopilot, the second generation of Tesla's semiautonomous technology, equipped with automatic braking, lane keeping, and lane departure warnings.

After the Tesla CEO spent half an hour onstage extolling the virtues of his new electric 18-wheeler, he stepped away and the lights went out. Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” came on the loudspeakers, and then the new Roadster rolled out of the very Semi he had just introduced, ripping around the massive lot where the trucks had been just a moment earlier.

People bitching about missing deadlines. Seriously? This is the ONLY car company in the world that's trying to produce electric only vehicles across the board, as well as putting a shit-ton of effort into securing the planets future by investing and inventing cleaner technology, yet people only focus on bitching about them missing a few deadlines while in pursuit of this goal.
    Christ.

The roadster looks awesome. A porsche 911 gt2 rs would eat it alive on a circuit. It's not a hardcore smackdown against gas powered sports cars, it's a hardcore smackdown against gas powered drag cars. For the time being, the ideal layout in my opinion remains a hybrid powertrain (e.g. laferrari, p1, 918, regera)

they should work on making this more practice. Making super chargers/hyper chargers as convenient as gas station. Making the vehicles at a price the an average or below average income family can afford.
Don't get me wrong I love Tesla and what they and Musk are doing. I just don't see these things taking off until they are as convenient and practical as traditional cars

Lol trucks on electric lines...you know we could have trains do that, right? Rail can move a whole lot more ppl and stuff than cars for the amount of space taken up. Tesla certainly is the next step for cars, but gotta think further ahead.
