    His explanation for why taking a deep breath wasn't that great, beyond the part about how it increases oxygen to your brain. I'd hazard a guess and say it might have something to do with your diaphragm squeezing on one of the largest nerves in your body - the vagus, which is a nerve that helps you calm down.
